Loot Crate December 2014 Anniversary Review and Coupon Code!

At first I thought it was called Anniversary because it was Loot Crates anniversary but no, it’s because the contents are celebrating anniversaries.  The December 2014 Loot Crate celebrates Tetris’ turns 30 and so does Ghostbusters.  The Simpsons are 25 and Marvel has now been around for 75 years!  I’m getting old because I remember when Tetris, Ghostbusters and the Simpsons came out. Luckily, I can’t say the same for Marvel.

The Cost: $13.37/month + shipping (Loot Crate ships to a LOT of countries)

What You Get:  Awesome gamer/geek loot! Sometimes T-shirts (like this month!) Plenty of comment inducing collectibles to surround your computer desk with, all delivered right to your door. You don’t even have to go out to get it! Well, except to the mailbox.

Tetris Sticker Set– Puffy stickers in the traditional tetris shapes!  This could be really fun.  I thought about putting them in a stocking but then I kind of wanted them for myself so I’m keeping them.
Value: $4

Captain America Air Freshener– Celebrate Marvel with a vanilla powered Captain America.  I don’t use air fresheners in my car, I just open the windows.  Maybe I could start?  I wonder what people would think seeing my rally blue 2002 Subaru WRX with a Captain America air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror.  Probably not much until they saw me in the car, too, dressed in pink with a ponytail.
Value: $2

Dancing Groot Socks– Socks!  Groot!  There’s really nothing more perfect.  They’re kind of ugly but kind of cool at the same time.  Plus, I love socks so I’ll wear these no matter what.
Value: $9

And of course, each Crate has a pin to commemorate your purchase with.  My stash of pins is getting pretty big!

Ghostbusters Door Hanger– This is a Loot Crate exclusive so you can warn people away in style. Or invite them in with insults.  Your choice.
Value: $3

Simpsons Cast Wallet– This was the one thing my husband wanted.  It says its water resistant and tear resistant but it’s made out of paper.  It’s like a poster folded into a wallet with slots.  I told DH he has to use it because it’s a fun conversation piece at least.
Value: $15

Batman Comic Book Issue 36 EndGame– Batman is 75 and this issue features cover art by Greg Capullo.  I’m not a huge fan of comic books.  I used to read Archie Comics and sometimes Batman and Spiderman but that was when I was a kid and the comics belonged to my uncle and were waaaay older than I was.  If he’d kept them nice instead of letting us kids dig through them, they’d probably be worth money now.
Value: $4

Funko Pop! Vinyl The Joker Batman-Batman– This is so ridiculous!  It’s Batman dressed up like the Joker.  According to the blurb, it’s because he likes to cosplay and this is an exclusive for Loot Crate. Super silly!
Value: $10

VERDICT: I think I would have appreciated this more if I was bigger into comics.  I like Loot Crate and I like the pricepoint but sometimes I feel like there’s a lot of filler.  I *do* like the mini-mag that comes with the Crate (which I forgot to take a picture of).  This month it had an interview with Stan Lee, who is hilarious and looks like my grandpa.  This wasn’t my favorite Crate but I do like the socks.  I’ve also finally set up shelving for our growing collection of figurines!  Now I’ve got a bunch sitting up there, waiting for more friends to join. 🙂

If you would like to sign up for Loot Crate and get a box of gamer ridiculaise sent to your door, you can do that right here.  Some months include a T shirt so make sure you put in your size when filling everything out.  Use code SAVE3 to get $3 off your box!
