The May 2016 Glossybox really surprised me! It felt like it had so much good stuff in it. I wasn’t expecting it either. Or rather, I thought I’d already got it earlier in the month but I guess not since here it is. My brain is a little fried by lack of sleep, staying up with my little dog who had surgery.
Glossybox does send interesting skincare and beauty products, I have to admit. It’s a little superfluous at the moment and I do cancel it over the Allure Beauty Box at times but when there’s a deal, I always snag one. I think I got a 6 month subscription where the boxes ended up being around $12 each. That’s totally worth it!
The Cost: $21/month
What You Get: Five luxury deluxe sized beauty essentials, from both well-known and emerging brands, delivered to your door each month.
Rituals Cosmetics Shower Foam in T’ai Chi
I’ve received Rituals shower foam in Glossybox before, although not this size. It foams kind of like shaving cream but it’s soap. I’m not super fond of floral scents and this is supposed to smell like lotus. Although I don’t think I know what a lotus smells like. Hm.
Versaspa Face Moisturizing Gradual Tanner
Well, snap! I was just deciding how I wanted to go about getting a tan for the summer. You might think that’s funny but I live in Seattle. It can be hard to get a tan around here. This uses DHA which pretty common and quite safe as a tanning agent. I’ll try this although I’m a little leery about using it on my face first. My ghostly white legs need it the most but I’m not sure there’s quite enough for that. We’ll see.
Nioxin System 1 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy Conditioner
This is a shampoo and conditioner made for fine and thin hair. That’s me! Since I just dyed my hair purple with a Vidal Sassoon box dye, I feel like I need some hair help. Also, I’m never using Vidal Sassoon again. It’s like Feria… I lost so much hair. Still, it’s a nice purple! But I need a good shampoo and conditioner that will give me a little more volume and it looks like this might be the one (or two, I guess). Pretty nice they sent the set.
Benefit Roller Lash
I’m actually not a fan of this mascara. Or maybe I just mean the applicator. It’s sort of rubbery and weird. Part of it is that I have already discovered my HG mascara and so far nothing else has even come close.
Talika Photo Hydra Day
I believe this is a French brand and since Glossybox has a presence in Europe it doesn’t surprise me to see it. It’s a silicone based moisturizer with mango seed butter. I think I’d take this moisturizer more seriously if they didn’t also market a “Slim Serum” that professes to turn fat into “cellular energy.” It’s basically “meh” although it’s going to feel great going on– silicone does that, I love it, too, but there’s other, better skincare out there.
I thought this was a really fun Glossybox. The majority of the box was a complete surprise and included products I’ve never received before. I don’t complain about the Benefit Roller Lash because I always have friends willing to take it off my hands. I’m still on the fence with the Rituals. That will depend on the scent.

OH! And if you use Ebates, remember to activate it because you will get $2.75 back with your purchase! If you don’t use Ebates and you shop online a lot, you should check it out! I love it. I first thought it was too good to be true but I’ve been using happily for over a year now. Spare change adds up and that means more boxes!
Did you get something different in your box? I heard there was a moisturizer of some kind.
